FARAON

BREED AND SIZE:

Czech Warmblood, 16 1 1/5 hands, 8 year old gelding by Federweisser, out of Carevna by Radegast. Imported from the Czech Republic in June 2013. Please view the pedigree link for more details on his pedigree.

SHOW HISTORY:

He has been shown extensively at the Southern California Hunter circuits. He started to show in January 2014 at HITS Thermal in the Pre-Green classes and has shown during 2015 in the 1st Year Green Classes. He qualified to compete at Devon in May 2015. He is currently showing at HITS Thermal, to compete at the Second Year Green Hunter level.

SOUNDNESS HISTORY:

He vetted with clean X-rays when we imported him in June 2013 (those X-rays are available for inspection from our vet's office). He has been sound, has not had or shown indications for joint injections. He has been an easy keeper. Our vet did a pre-show checkup prior to Faraon shipping to Thermal and the vet confirmed that Faraon moves great and shows no need for work to be done.

SHOW ABILITY:

Faraon is fancy to look at and a fancy mover to watch. Faraon has a lot of scope and will likely perform better in his classes as the jumps get higher. The lower jumps come easily to him and he will have more focus with a better challenge. He naturally has a huge, flowing, rhythmic stride. He is powerful and feels that way when ridden. He is quiet and can be ridden by an amateur, but will still need seasoning over time by a professional to help him stay consistent. He can get strong on his approaches and will need more professional riding and schooling to help him get and stay consistent. When finished and polished, he has the raw potential to be one of the top hunters. As one amateur noted, "He is the nicest horse I have ever ridden, but he is not the easiest I have ever ridden". As many top riders and trainers have known, often the highly talented horses are not the easiest, but they are worth it.

PERSONALITY:

He is a very sweet horse and appreciates attention and being fussed with. He will do pretty much anything for carrots and for those he loves. He is sensitive and is still trying to work out how he feels about a few things. His ground manners show his sensitivity and he can be suspicious of vets, dentists, clipping, and people who approach quickly with an agenda and forget to say hello. He is good to handle by the people he knows and trusts. While his sensitivity comes through in his ground manners, he is professional and quiet under saddle. He is smart and learns easily and quickly. He responds to positive praise, and aims to please. With his sensitivity and trust in those he knows well, he will become an incredible once-in-a-lifetime talented partner to an up-and-coming strong amateur rider or professional rider who wants to find a horse to go all the way to the top.
